FP Fire is highly recommended. Installer Rayne is very experienced. He has done the job smoothly within 1 hour and most importantly he respects the owner’s premises and clean the area where he has worked. Rayne also explained how to reset and use the system to the client.

Common Types of Fire

To know which fire extinguisher is best to have on your site, we first need to know a little bit about how fires are categorised in the UK. We follow the European Standard Classification for fires, which has five different types, including:

• Class A: Fire is fueled by solid materials like wood, paper, textiles, and most plastics.

• Class B: Flammable liquids like oil, paints, or petrol start the fire.

• Class C: Flammable gases such as propane, natural gases, and butane start the fire.

• Class D: Fire starts with combustible metals, lithium, aluminium, and magnesium.

• Class F: Fire is caused by cooking oils or fats, which may commonly include deep fat fryers or chip pans.

Electrical fires need special attention and care when putting out, as there’s a risk of electrocution.

Explore Our Range of Fire Extinguishers in London

Different types of fires require different extinguishers, and using the wrong one can make a fire worse. We supply and install all major types of fire extinguishers, ensuring each one is suited to the risks within your building.

Water Extinguisher

✅ Ideal for use on Class A fires, started by solid materials such as paper, textiles, wood, fabric, or cloth.

❌ Not suitable for electrical fires or flammable liquids. Water extinguishers pose a risk of electrocution when used on electrical fires.

If you need a water fire extinguisher in London, please give us a call today.

Foam Extinguisher

✅ You can use foam extinguishers for Class A and Class B fires, caused by items such as solid materials (Class A) or flammable liquids like oil, paint, diesel, or petrol (Class B).

❌ Never use foam extinguishers for electrical fires or fires caused by flammable liquids.

If you need a foam extinguisher for your London business, contact us today.

CO₂ Extinguisher

✅ CO2 extinguishers are best used on electrical fires or Class B fires, started by flammable liquids.

❌ Don’t use Co2 extinguishers on cooking oil fires, as the powerful discharge can spread the burning oil.

Dry Powder Extinguisher

✅ Dry powder extinguishers are safe for use on Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. You can use them on fires started by solid materials, flammable liquids, and flammable gases.

❌ Lithium (battery) fires burn too hot for dry powder extinguishers to be effective. Avoid using them on such fires, as they will only temporarily stop the flames.

If you’re looking for a dry powder extinguisher in London, give our team a call today.

Wet Chemical Extinguisher

✅ Wet chemical extinguishers can be used on both Class A and Class F fires to put out fires started by solid materials and cooking oils.

❌ Flammable liquids and electrical fires are not safe to put out with a wet chemical extinguisher.
